Individual Psychotherapy

The initial evaluation involves discussing treatment goals and developing a plan for achieving them. Where the work begins depends on a client’s concerns, goals, and preferences. Psychotherapy may be shorter or longer-term depending on presenting concerns and desired results. In order for any psychotherapy to be successful, it is essential that there be a good fit between therapist and client. In particular, the client needs to trust and feel comfortable with the therapist and feel like they’re working on the same goals. I collaborate with clients using a style that is calm, thoughtful, gently challenging, and supportive.

Stress Management & Relaxation Techniques

Clients may want to primarily focus on these skills on a short-term basis, with more of an educational focus. Alternatively, we may work on developing these skills in the context of psychotherapy that focuses on other goals.

Clinical Hypnosis

In general, I collaborate with clients when appropriate to integrate hypnosis into the overall psychotherapy approach, to add to or enhance other therapeutic strategies. At times, it can be helpful to utilize hypnosis to reach a specific goal, such as increasing the ability to relax.
